The baby’s skin starts to soften in the 29th week due to the increasing amount of fat in the body. The more oil he gains, the softer baby’s skin becomes. While the fat accumulated in the body during the fetal period is called brown fat, the baby is now stored in white fats, which are also found in adult individuals. Currently, these oils are used more as an energy store rather than regulating the baby’s body temperature, unlike brown oils. The liquid called Vernix Kaseosa and covering the baby’s skin surface begins to disappear this week. This fluid is formed to protect the baby’s skin from the acid in the amniotic fluid.
Baby’s eyes are starting to focus this week. The baby’s teeth have been sown and they are ready to come out after birth and even the permanent teeth that they will use in adulthood are starting to form in the gums this week. As a part of brain development, starting this week, the baby can maintain rhythmic breathing and body temperature balance. Therefore, in the possibility of preterm birth, baby will probably not need to regulate breathing after this week. As baby’s brain develops, personality and intelligence begin to become more complex. This week, you can better observe how the baby reacts to the food you eat, the sounds you make and the lights around. You may even feel a lack of attention to listen to different sounds recently. You will feel more and more powerful than the baby’s movements. The reason for this is that their bones harden day by day. However, these bones still need to be soft and flexible at birth and their bones will continue to strengthen after birth. You may have heard something certain that the baby’s skull is soft after birth. The skull of the baby is not complete before birth. The skull, which is in the form of a few pieces unified, allows baby to be born more comfortably during birth and after birth, these pieces unite and soft areas disappear. If the babies’ skulls were fused and rigid before birth, baby would be impossible to give birth.
Changes in 29 Weeks of Pregnancy
While the movements you previously felt in your stomach were mostly in the form of kicks, punches and rolls, these have now been replaced by nudges with elbows and knees. This is because the baby has grown and there is no place left in your uterus to move a lot. Moreover, since your baby is bigger now, these movements disturb you more. Trying to lie on your side when you lie down will be more beneficial for both you and the baby. However, be careful not to make sudden movements such as getting up quickly, as you are more sensitive during this period, you may feel dizzy and feel bad.
When the baby’s adrenal glands meet with the placenta, they produce a chemical that turns into estrio, a different form of estrogen. Estriol stimulates your body to produce prolactin and prolactin causes your body to produce milk. This means that even if an event such as a preterm birth occurs from the 29th week, you can produce milk and feed him.
By the 29th week, your belly has grown so much that you cannot see your legs while standing. If you, like the majority of expectant mothers, have varicose veins on their legs during pregnancy, in a way this can turn into a good situation. These swollen veins on your legs can develop and worsen by the end of pregnancy, but they rarely become a cause for concern (the only thing you should panic might be putting your short skirts in a corner for a few months). The reason why these varicose veins occur is that your blood volume that increases during pregnancy, your expanding uterus puts pressure on your pelvic vessels, and hormones relax and dilate the vessels.
